Matrimony

So, I had the privilege to emcee a wedding this passed Saturday because my DJ friend knew the bride. What a fun experience.

» We came to the conclusion that there are 3 main groups of people you have to cater to during the reception:

The Bride & Groom: This is a given. It’s their wedding night. They’re gonna remember it for the rest of their lives. No need to worry about the bride’s maids or groom’s men because they’re gonna be inebriated anyway—especially the Maid of Honor and the Best Man.
The Parents of the Bride & Groom: They’re probably paying for half the wedding AND they tend to be biggest critics when it comes to entertainment. If they don’t like you, you can bet via word-of-mouth that the immediate family members (mostly the older ones) won’t like you. It spreads like a wildfire.
The Black Family Members: They get the dancing started. Enough said.

Luckily, everyone was pleased and the newlyweds banked us out more than what we settled for.

So there you have it. 3 main factors. Now go host a wedding.

I’ll definitely shoot you a text on a day where you’re off work and I’m off school, yet you keep yourself on-call to pay off those pesky car payments and still have money for yourself to actually ‘do’ lunch. I respect that.
